Last weekend I popped along to Leeds to shoot Slam Dunk festival for DIY.
It was great fun and so many fantastic bands played. I mostly stayed at the main stage but ventured out at various points in the day to catch The Audition, Set Your Goals and Make Do And Mend. All good bands who really know how to put on a show, and it was great to see The Audition after so long. I wish I’d managed to catch Canterbury and Mayday Parade as well, but unfortunately time clashes, my terrible sense of direction and queues to get inside the tent, meant I didn’t manage to. Hopefully it wont be too long until I see those guys again though. In regards to the main stage, the best band of the day for me was without a doubt The Blackout. I don’t think I ever see a band put so much into their performances as them and it was an incredible show. They never disappoint. Other highlights would definitely be Motion City Soundtrack, (another band I haven’t seen for a couple of years…) and of course the unforgettable Taking Back Sunday set. It was, interesting. Adam Lazzara spent the last third of their set with members of the crowd, whether it was down by the barrier or up on the balconies. There are a lot of negative reviews about this performance but I still had a lot of fun seeing them and getting to photograph them.
The shots I took are now up on the DIY site so you can check them out here.
I’ll post some of my favourites on here soon too.
I hope everyone else who attended Slam Dunk had fun!
Can’t wait until next year.
